THE CHALLENGE

Handrail stanchions were drawn as AutoCAD® 3D models.
· Fittings for the cable stays were supplied by the manufacturer as IGES models.
· The biggest challenge was the tapered design of the bridge – full integration with AutoCAD made drawing relatively straight forward as familiar tools and processes were employed.

THE SOLUTION

· Handrail stanchions were imported from AutoCAD® into Advance Steel using the
Advance Steel tool.
· IGES model could be transferred to AutoDesk Inventor® then to AutoCAD® as an ACIS solid and finally into Advance Steel as a special part with much reduced file size.
· Accurate fixing detail could be sent to site ahead of delivery to keep installation and crane time to a minimum.
